Back in Granada

Woke up in our tiny little room (it was so small, but clean so I didn't mind) feeling rested, but annoyed by the kids that were screaming out on the terrace. Who brings their children to a hostel? So annoying. We lounged around in the morning, drinking free coffee and staring at the lake. Then we grabbed our bus back to Granada. We checked in at the hostel, dropped our bags and went out to explore the town and hopefully the festival. Everyone was setting up booths but the festival didn't start until later in the evening so we decided to get lunch at "Garden cafe" which had been recommended to us by the American couple. We split a croissant sandwich and a club sandwich and I finally got a decent cup of ice tea- so refreshing!
After lunch, we were going to stop for a drink at "Margaritas" but as soon as we sat down on the patio, it started pouring rain. We ran all the way back to the hostel (though we did stop to first purchase a bottle of wine) and were absolutely drenched when we got there. We lounged the afternoon away on the covered terrace drinking wine, researching the galapagos and watching "Anna Karenina".
Around 4:00 we ventured back out into the world. The rain had stopped but it was still cloudy and cool which was a welcome change. We walked the town and tried some of the local street food. This fried masa served in a banana leaf was actually a lot like a quesadilla and to our surprise had cheese in the middle. We had a few mojitos at one of the outdoor cafes and watched the locals continue to prepare for the events of the evening.
Lol- they sell Ramen noodles!
We had been told the carnival would start at 5:00 so we were waiting around for it but by the time 6:00 hit and still nothing was going on, we decided to head back, take showers and come back out a bit later.
When we stepped back out at 8:00, it was perfect timing. We arrived just as the parade was passing through the central square and so we stood with all of the locals dancing to the music and marveling at the spectacle.
After the parade had past, we got dinner at a pizza place called "El Pizzaiole". We could still see and hear a lot of the festival from our table so it was a good location. The salad and pizza was very good.
After dinner, people were milling about eating and drinking but there was no other entertainment for the night so we headed back to the hostel to finish our wine.
