I woke up at 10:55, knowing that I had to check out at 11:00am. I had become friends with the guy who ran the morning shift at the hostel and knew he would not make us check out on time. We had been planning to take the 2:30pm boat to Uruguay, so we were lazing about showering and getting ready. We finally packed our stuff and made our way to the bus stop. The bus dropped us off a few blocks from the boat station and we had looked up the tickets right before we left to make sure that there were sill some available. When we got to the boat terminal, we waited in the long line to purchase tickets, but when we got to the front, the guy told us that you couldn't buy tickets for the boat we wanted to take at that terminal (even though that's where the boat leaves from) and the place that you do buy tickets at was closed for the day because it was Sunday. WHAT THE FUCK!?!? We were so pissed off. We decided the reason these countries are third world is because no one ever works, especially on a Sunday- you can't spend your money no matter how hard to try! He said we could buy the tickets online but they had no Internet, so we walked around town trying to find a cafe but nothing was open because its Sunday....YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! We had our giant bags on and were sore from the horseback riding the day before so this experience was literally like torture. Finally, we gave up and took the bus back to the hostel.
We had only slept about 3 hours so we were exhausted and pissed off. The hostel had plenty of rooms, so we got a five person dorm with no one in it which was glorious. We went out in search of an open restaurant and luckily found one where we could get some sandwiches and decide on a new plan of action. We decided to take the noon boat the next day and just buy our tickets online. Once we had the tickets, we went back to the hostel and laid in bed for a few hours. I felt a bit better in the evening, so we decided we would make dinner at the hostel and invite Pablo over. We were going to make chicken but the chicken at the grocery store was not what we are used to (ie they don't have chicken breasts, they have whole chickens) so we gave up and got some quiche and made salad. After dinner, Alyssa and Pablo went out to walk around but I was too exhausted me settled in for the night, happy with some alone time.
