Lighthouse

We checked out of "Nomads" and moved to "Backpackers Holiday Village". We had thought this would be a better choice for the remainder of our stay in Byron Bay, but it was more of an exchange of pros and cons. Although this hostel offered free internet, it was only available before 9:00pm and you had to be in the reception area to get it, which meant that reception was always packed with people trying to get service. We had a four person room in an apartment style, two room suite which was nice because then we had our own bathroom, kitchen and living room for the suite.
Everyone had recommended the walk to the lighthouse as the top thing to do in Byron Bay, so clearly we had to do it. We borrowed bikes from the hostel and rode them down to the beach where we locked them up and continued on foot. It was a steep uphill climb but the views of the water were spectacular.

When we arrived at the lighthouse, there really wasn't much to do there, it must just be the beautiful walk that attracts people to that spot.
We did take a moment to check out the most easterly point of Australia which the Australians all seemed very proud of, lol.
After we finished the walk, we went to Wategos Beach which was a beautiful, more secluded beach along the coast. We had to find some shade under nearby trees because it was so hot. The water was clear and warm though which is always nice.
We headed back to the hostel after the beach to hang out and drink some wine. We and a bunch of guys and started playing basketball, listening to music and chatting. The guys we had met the day before from California, Mick and Tyler, happened to be staying at this hostel so they joined in the fun.
Before you know it, everyone is drunk, playing drinking games and eating pizza. We decided we should head to one of the clubs in town to continue the party. Alyssa was over it so she went to bed, but I headed out with three of the roommates. It was a bit of a younger scene but I danced for about an hour before I got annoyed and decided to head home by myself. On my walk back to the hostel (don't worry, it was about 100ft and Australia couldn't be safer) I ran into the California boys eating kebabs on the street. They were stoned out of their minds and made it look like those kebabs were their last meal. I had a good laugh amd said goodnight to them, headed back to the hostel and hoped that they didn't all wake me up when they came home later that evening.
