When we finally got to Byron Bay it was almost 9:00pm. We went straight to "Nomads" hostel where we had booked just for that evening. We had heard that it was a bit of a party hostel so we were going to stay at a different hostel for the rest of our time there. They had actually upgraded us to a king room which was basically like a nice hotel room with our own bathroom, coffee maker etc. We were happy to have some space of our own for once and hung out in the room watching movies on our flat screen until we went to bed.

Bus travel
We had scheduled our Greyhound bus from Hervey Bay to Byron Bay knowing it would be a full day of bus travel but figuring it was better to get it all over in one day. The bus from Hervey Bay to Brisbane took four hours and then we had a two hour layover in the transit center before we caught the six hour bus to Byron Bay. Sadly, these buses didn't play any movies during the trip so it was a pretty boring journey. We did stop for dinner dueing the second bus ride where we met two guys from San Diego also travelling to Byron: Tyler and Mick. We figured since we'd all be in the same town for a few days, we'd end up hanging out- that just seems to be how things work.
